Prom Preview: Dresses

WJPS seniors will have their prom on June 6, 2018 at the Crest Hollow Country Club.

The night will include a “mocktail” hour, sit-down dinner and a DJ.

One of the most vital parts of the prom is the formal wear seniors will be sporting, specifically the prom dresses.

“I am most excited to hang out with friends, take pictures and eat some good food,” said senior Ivana Pitino.

Some of the popular stores to purchase prom dresses are Estelles, David’s Bridal, Camille La Vie, and the classic department stores such as Macy’s and JCPenney.

Trending in 2018 include the iconic 1980’s dresses, which are back in style. Many are off the shoulder dresses. Some have puffed sleeves while others feature bold colors and many embellishments such as lace and beading.

“My dress is royal blue tight fitted and off the shoulder, which I got at Estelles for 180 dollars,” said senior Catherine McNamee.

The more mainstream styles are traditional ball gowns, mermaid, A-line, and sequin dresses coming in a variety of hemlines such as long, short, and high-low.

Popular prom dress colors include red, blue, coral, magenta, turquoise, pink, mint, gold, silver, and black. Particularly red and blue are popular choices.

“My dress is a long, sky blue fitted top with jewels that is flowy at the bottom,” said Pitino.
