After over one year of marriage, comedian Russell Brand became “the one that got away,” filing for a divorce from pop star Katy Perry.
According to U.S. Weekly, “The decision to spend Christmas apart came after a massive fight. It was just one of many, but at the same time, confirmation that things have taken a turn for the worse in recent weeks.”
“I was shocked when I found out because I saw pictures of them in the tabloids of them kissing and hugging, and they seemed happy,” said senior, Bianca Denaro.
According to rollingstone.com, “[Russell Brand] has reportedly filed papers in Los Angeles to divorce his wife of 14 months, citing irreconcilable difference,” and that “Brand has been spotted on the town on London in recent days without his wedding ring.”
Katy Perry has kept a low profile since the separation on December 30th, 2011 and had recently canceled plans to attend the People’s Choice Awards. Brand had also reportedly been uninvited to the event.
“I wasn’t that surprised because many celebrity couples usually break up after a short amount of time,” said senior Anthony Salati.
According to huffingtonpost.com, “Russell Brand admits that he is doing quite well, and while promoting his new FX show, in spite of recent events he’s on the mend. Since announcing their split, Brand has moved out of the pair’s Hollywood Hills home into his new Los Angeles bachelor pad.”
