The Hunger Games series is coming to an end. The last movie for the series was released on November 20

Suzanne Collins wrote the Hunger Games series; starting with The Hunger Games, following with Catching Fire, and ending with MockingJay. The first two novels were New York Times Best Sellers, while MockingJay placed second on the U.S bestsellers list. Mockingjay Part 2 opened at  $101 Million and is the lowest grossing Hunger Game movies.

“The trilogy definitely followed the book. Although I found the others were better to watch since they weren’t the final movies. But the ending was certainly a good one,“ senior Kaila Pulley said.

In part 2 of Mockingjay, the story continues on with the war of Panem. The Mockingjay, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) leaves District 13 to go out on the war field and get citizens to side with their cause along with Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), and Finnick (Sam Claflin). Everdeen has another goal in mind: to kill President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

No one is really aware of her true intentions when she joins the team. Everdeen also has to deal with Mellark going off on her because he has not recovered from the Capitol’s conditioning that he faced which affected his mental state. This movie is filled with drama, action, adventure and romance.

There is a lot of tension between Everdeen and Mellark after Mellark comes to District 13. Mellark believes that Everdeen is to blame for all of the misfortunes. Throughout the movie, there are a few times where he gets violent with her but it is not by his own will. Everdeen was shocked when Mellark joined the team out on the war field.

While out in the field, the team gets caught by one of Snow’s traps. The team leader, Boggs, dies and entrusts Everdeen to lead the team. So again, Everdeen has even more responsibility. Death did not cease in Mockingjay Part 2, major characters were killed off.

“I thought the movie was really good I really enjoyed it but there were a couple of scenes that I wished didn’t happened so they could’ve rewritten those. My favorite part of the movie was the ending,” freshman Aaliyah Rodriguez said.

The love triangle between Gale, Everdeen and Mellark finally came to an end. The ending left some viewers extremely happy with Everdeen’s decision, and others, not so much. The series itself was an emotional rollercoaster that has come to an end.
