In the hopes of trying to get a new school building, students, teachers and administration are coming together for a pep rally. The new building would be located at what was the Bayside Jewish Center at 203-05 32nd Avenue.

On Monday October 19th, there will be a meeting located at PS 159 (205-01 33rd Avenue), according to Ms. Schneider’s e-mail. Admin and the community board are joining together to show support for the school to get their own building. It is also recommended that students come to show support.

“I hope WJPS expands because it stinks sharing a building with two other schools,” senior Emilee Verdaguer said.

Councilman Vallone is holding a rally outside PS 159 regarding this matter. According to Ms. Schneider’s e-mail, it was supposed to be on Wednesday, October 21 at 2:30pm, but it was postponed indefinitely. The rally was to support the Jewish Center becoming a school building, a school hoped, by administration, to be WJPS.

“We deserve a space that is high school appropriate,” Principal Ms. Schneider said, “We are also trying to expand the size by a hair by 100 kids per grade because it’s harder to schedule classes with only 3 classes per grade.”
