Although some say that technology creates more procrastination in our society, it also helps make this world safer and much more enjoyable. Self-driving cars will prevent drunk driving and texting accidents. These cars know the surrounding around them with the sensor built inside. Now the question that remains is, will these advances to a self-driving car help us or do more damage?

The U.S becomes more advanced in technology every year. From the first light bulb to the new iphone 6s going on 7. Self-driving cars are a necessity to our technological society because many people get distracted while driving, and this can cause accidents. If there were self-driving cars then it would be okay to use your phone.

These cars have a sensor which can detect when there are pedestrians or cars passing. It knows when it needs to accelerate and when it needs to brake.

“I don’t believe we should have self-driving cars because I feel like they would take responsibilities away from the driver and cause more accidents because it’s a machine who knows what can happen,” senior Alyssa Striano said.

Drivers won’t have to pay attention to the road. Instead they would get to enjoy the ride. These cars would give the passengers more time to just talk to one another and do whatever they have to do before they reach their destination.

Although self driving cars may be convenient and you can communicate more with family and friends. The driver can now do anything with both hands being free to do something they did not have time to complete earlier in the day. Parents who work daily can bond with their kids in many possible ways in the car.

Studies have shown that technology has increased procrastination. According to Huffington Post, students spend more time on social media or watching t.v than they do studying. These cars will give students more reason to procrastinate because now students who drive can do their homework and let the car take them to school.

“I think the self driving car is an amazing creation. People are careless when it comes to driving because they are constantly on their phones and this can save so many humans from car accidents. I especially find this to be very accommodating for disabled and elderly people . We need to look at the bigger picture and think of how beneficial the self driving car can be,” junior Erika Donis said.

This car is not perfect so there is a slight possibility that it can cause harm to others on the streets. But when thinking about the effects it can have in the long run can really change a person’s thought on this. A self-driving car is definitely something incredible that can change the future.
