Four-Day School Week

Students can become exhausted because of school. Many lose motivation to do work in school from being so tired and in addition to some getting no sleep.

Schools should be giving Fridays off to allow us students more time to rest and catch up on work. Students may do better in school this way and get more work done and be less stressed out.

According to Education Commission of the States, as of 2019, over 650 districts across 24 states are using this schedule — a 600% increase since 1999.

WJPS 10th grader Lambreeni Dselves said, “I think school should be four days a week because it splits the week more evenly with being in school and being home. We would still be in school more days a week than the weekend but it gives us a longer break.”

WJPS assistant principal Mr Yarmy said, “I think it’s a great idea however you can’t really do that because it doesn’t work with some parents’ schedules. There could definitely be an argument with it.”
