Farewell, Dr. Werner

Dr. Werner, principal of WJPS, is set to retire at the end of the school year, but will take her leave in February.

She first started out as a teacher in Queens over 30 years ago and has since then been able to experience both middle and high school classrooms as well as different positions such as assistant principal and principal.

“This is my eighth year at WJPS and my experience at WJPS has been life changing in a good way. I’ve met wonderful people, I’ve helped with the rest of the staff bringing WJPS to a place I’m proud of, in terms of what our students achieve.”

Dr. Werner believes that the next person to take on the role of principal at WJPS will continue what has been already started in WJPS, as well as continuing the community spirit.

WJPS junior Jonathan Reyes said, “I’m going to miss Dr. Werner. She always made the school a lot more fun and I’m scared the new principal might be someone who changes the school so much that everything I like about the school is gone.”

She has seen students grow over time from their sixth grade years to their senior years, she feels honored to be able to have students part of the WJPS community.
