A week long mission aboard the international space station referred to as Axiom Mission 2 or AX-2 was successful. On May 30th the passengers and the Dragon crew were able to make its re-entry off the coast off Panama City, Florida.

The dragon crew consisted of three paying clients and Peggy Whitson, an ex-NASA astronaut. On May 21st the Dragon was launched from the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. 

Aboard the space crate were Barnawi and Ali AlQarn, two Saudi Arabian citizens from the Saudi Arabian Royal Air Force. Among these two was also John Shoffner, founder of the hardware company, Dura-Line Corporation. 

WJPS sophomore, Carlos Sevilla stated, “I think it’s pretty amazing how now normal people get to travel to space now and it’s not just for astronauts.” 

WJPS sophomore, Amy Garcia said, “Honestly for that I think It would be really expensive and not a good idea, without the proper training from these people it could end up a disaster. Especially being in space and it being a new environment.” 

With the right training and a qualified space crew member, citizens should be able to travel to space. It’s a great opportunity for the people who have the means to support this private crewed space flight.
