Nintendo has released Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The newest generation IX of Pokémon has been released, containing 107 new Pokémon with a total of 400 Pokémon available to be captured.

Between Scarlet and Violet, there are different exclusive Pokémon available. With Violet, there will be “Misdreavus”, “Gulpin”, “Ceruledge” and Scarlet will be accompanied by “Skuntank,” “Tyranitar’,’ and “Skrelp.”

Scarlet and Violet are the first Pokémon games to be placed in an open-world setting.

A new battling feature was released alongside the game. Traditionally, you would need to interact and fight with each Pokémon through a battle sequence. This is no longer the case, as you can battle Pokémon without going into an animation, with the option to explore the world as your Pokémon battle.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are priced at $60 each and are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.

WJPS teacher, Mr. Van Deurs stated, “I bought the game on release, and I’ve been loving the open-world aspect, and being given the option to catch whatever you want whenever you want is a luxury. I’m glad I was presented with this game.”

WJPS freshman Vishnu Singh Negi stated, “From what I’ve seen so far, the newest game appears to be a giant buggy mess. In its current state, without any updates, I don’t plan on getting it.”
