We Need a Homecoming

We+Need+a+Homecoming

Many New York City public schools don’t celebrate homecoming. Having a homecoming might be a bit late for the seniors at WJPS, but it would be great for the younger students as it gives them the opportunity to have a better high school experience.

It’s very common in a lot of high schools and colleges in the United States. Homecoming is also usually coupled with a sports game like football to kick it off. Some schools may even have a parade and name a homecoming queen and king.

Alumni can take this opportunity as well to visit the school, meet students and catch up with their past teachers. They can walk through the hallways thinking about memories they had at the school.

Now you may be thinking, well we have a prom so why would we need to have a homecoming. The tradition of prom actually marks the beginning of spring and it also celebrates the end of the school year for many seniors.

The student government will benefit more if they would come together with the younger students and plan an idea for a homecoming that would have the students hyped about. It would benefit the school a lot because then more students would want to be involved with school activities.
