Release of Graphic Cards

Release+of+Graphic+Cards

Intel has begun releasing its new Arc series graphic cards to compete against the graphic cards from companies AMD and NVIDIA. The goal is to provide more options for laptop users. However, only the entry-level graphic cards are available and will be only available for mobile laptops.

A graphic card is a video card added to your laptop or desktop computer, which improves images’ details, image clarity, and overall performance.

Intel is releasing Arc 3, 5 and 7, with Arc 3 being entry-level, Arc 5 being mid-performance, and Arc 7 being the highest performance, and will be released in parts beginning with the Arc 3 graphic cards.

Testing by 3DMark on NVIDIA cards is showing that the Arc 3 graphic card is giving around the same performance as the NVIDIA GTX 1650, which is NVIDIA’s entry-level mobile graphic card.

Meantime, testing on AMD cards is showing that the Arc 3 has less performance compared to the AMD Radeon RX 6500M, which is AMD’s entry-level mobile graphic card.

Mr. Van Deurs, a teacher at WJPS, said, ”An equivalent to a 1650 in a laptop is more than enough for games that are popular. However, any graphically intensive games will give the arc three chips a rough time however many won’t play such games on a laptop.”

A senior at WJPS, Hamza Ariyan, said, “I am glad that there will be more options for us the consumers, to choose from, especially in a time where computer prices have soared a little too high.”
