COVID cases have left many teachers home in quarantine. This results in substitutes having to take over. With the absence of teachers, limited work is left behind causing a pause in education.
This can become crucial as it leaves the learning of many students on a standstill. WJPS freshman Aragon Di Piazza stated, ”My teacher’s been out for way over a week now and I really don’t do much in class.”
WJPS junior Ameen Afroz stated, “the teacher left no work for the two weeks of her absence resulting in nothing to do at all. Basically a free period.“
This causes a long term conflict, leaving teachers behind on assignments and lessons.
If teachers continue to be absent, a solution could be to work from home, or even recommend videos based on the topic covered.
