For many, viewing The Radio City Christmas show is a cherished family tradition. 

“I saw the show many years ago with my kids. We all loved the production, the theater, dancing, costumes, and music,” said WJPS teacher Ms. Post.

Unfortunately, this year will be another year that this tradition will need to take a backseat to COVID-19.

In response to these cases, several different shows have announced the need for cancellations of performances, some for only specific showtimes and others until the end of the show’s run.

One of the many shows fallen victim to this trend was the Christmas Spectacular starring The Rockettes. 

The cancellation of the remainder of their 2021 show run came not long after this spike and trend first appeared. 

All tickets from the affected performances have been set to be refunded as purchased. 

However, fans of this annual show and those with tickets set to view the show during the canceled performance dates, as an understanding of the situation they may be, have displayed some disappointment in light of this decision. 

“It made me really sad to hear that the show was closing this year due to the COVID-19 spike. I feel that they shouldn’t have closed the show, but instead implemented a mask and vaccine mandate,” said WJPS senior Katherine Pappas.

The hope is that The Radio City Christmas Spectacular will make a total return next year.
