Prom: Yes, No, Maybe So?

Recently seniors received their senior packets with upcoming activities for them. Amongst the list of activities lies senior prom.

Many seniors, along with Mr. Lumetta and other WJPS staff members who are coordinating the prom are crossing their fingers to see if there will be such an event for the graduating class of 2022.

Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, Long Island, will be the venue for the 2022 WJPS prom. However, according to administrators, the cost is $135. This price certainly creates controversy.

Many students choose not to go because they simply don’t want to, but other students are discouraged from going because of the price.

WJPS senior Isabella Torres said, “ I am very excited about the prom. I dont think it’s going to be cancelled because administration has really taken into [account] the whole COVID thing and so they have tried very hard to come up with restrictions. We looked into the venue and booked it already.  I think everyone should get excited about it. Girls buy their dresses and start just getting excited and going back to normal.”

WJPS senior Naomi Long said, “I believe everyone should consider the idea of going to prom. You get only prom once, which means its once in a lifetime opportunity.”
