Successful control of the virus

Successful+control+of+the+virus

Various countries are still having an acute spread of coronavirus, but there is a place in the world that has normal social life for human beings: Taiwan.

Moreover, people in Taiwan can freely enjoy dining inside restaurants, shopping at the stores and even have live concerts.

The population of Taiwan is about 23.6 million, New Zealand is about seven times bigger than Taiwan. However, the number of COVID cases is around 800 people with seven deaths.

How did Taiwan successfully control the virus?

  • They banned travel from many parts of China immediately; Taiwan made masks mandatory since the beginning of COVID-19 in China
  • Increased domestic face-mask production and created a system in which everyone can have enough surgery masks.
  • Announced new punishments for spreading disinformation about the virus; A strict rule for people who come from outside of Taiwan: They need to be quarantined at home alone or hotels that provide a 14-day quarantine. If someone doesn’t obey the rule they get fined or punished heavily.

Recently, a Philippino male who went to Taiwan was fined around three thousand U.S dollars because he left his isolation room for 30 seconds.

“It’s really impressive how they were able to prevent the spread of covid so quickly and efficiently,” Junior Somiah Singh from WJPS said.

There are lots of people in Korea and Japan who say that their countries should do the same thing Taiwan is doing to stop the spread of the virus.
