COVID-19 Vaccine

COVID-19+Vaccine

Throughout the quarantine process, many people have been speculating about and wanting a COVID vaccine, because the vaccines can protect people from this lethal virus.

Within recent months, the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was quickly approved considering the world’s circumstances.

The vaccine was recently distributed in Australia and New Zealand, Germany, and in the United States.

On Monday, December 14, 2020, the first vaccine given and administered in the United States was given to Sandra Lindsay in Queens. Lindsay, a nurse, was the first American to receive this vaccine.

Like any vaccine, there are certain drawbacks or side effects that come. In this case, some people experienced terrible allergic reactions due to the ingredients in the vaccine.

For this reason, WJPS science teacher Ms. Bonanni said, “I am hoping they figure out a way to get it to people with allergies like me without giving us a severe reaction.”

Ms. Bonanni is looking forward to the world returning to some sort of normalcy and believes the first step is this vaccine.

Similar to Ms. Bonanni, I also have severe allergies so I am also going to have to wait to get the vaccine until further testing is done, but I believe that a vaccine will help stop the spread of this virus.

WJPS junior, Joanna Dalitsouris said, “I think it’s great that the vaccine is coming out,” and mentioned that she is also a little worried about a new vaccine, but is hopeful.

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine still has many details to be sorted through, but with more testing and new deals to be made with other countries around the world, this vaccine could have a positive turnover.
