Kobe Bryant suprasses Michael Jordan on the scoring list

Finally, in his 19th year as a shooting guard, superstar Kobe Bryant has surpassed the ever great and retired Michael Jordan, making him the third highest scorer in the NBA. Bryant always saw him as a figure to follow and looked up to him, and now he has surpassed his idle, a great achievement, and definitely a well deserved and hard-fought achievement. In his 19th career season, Shooting Guard Kobe Bryant has now become the third- highest scorer in the NBA. He was elevated to this position after his performance when the Los Angeles Lakers played against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Entering the game, Bryant was only eight points from passing Shooting Guard Michael Jordan who had 32,292 career points. Jordan and Bryant had a special relationship in the NBA; Jordan served as a mentor to Bryant in his early career.

“He [Michael Jordan] knows how much I’ve learned from him. From the other legends, but him in particular,” Kobe Bryant said.

Bryant and the Lakers defeated the Timberwolves in a 100-94 win. Bryant contributed to the victory with 26 points, six rebounds, and two dimes (assists).

Despite the fact that Bryant made history in the NBA, the Lakers currently are failing to stay afloat in the Western Conference. They’re not in current playoff contention.

“It was great to see Kobe accomplish something that he set out to do for his entire career. Kobe has been constantly in the shadow of Michael Jordan and its great to see him carve out his own legacy. Kobe still has a lot left in the tank and hopefully he can raise his career to even greater heights,” freshman James Panagakos said

Center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387) and Power Forward Karl Malone (36,928)  are currently first and second in career NBA points. Both players were staples to their respective teams in their prime (both are retired). Bryant (32,331) has a long way to go if he endeavors to overcome those two legends.
