Hurricane Florence’s effects were felt by many, including prisoners. In North Carolina, officials reported that more than 3,000 people were relocated from adult prisons and juvenile centers in the path of Florence.

More than 100 members of the Charlotte Hornets organization helped to create disaster food boxes for those affected by Florence in the Carolinas. Retired NBA player Michael Jordan donated two million dollars to help residents of the Carolinas. The disaster food boxes were shipped to Wilmington, Fayetteville North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and distributed to those who were affected by the hurricane.

Floodwaters also damaged farmer’s crops such as cotton and peanuts. Wilmington, North Carolina prepared itself by distributing food, water and tarps to residents that were getting hit next.
