Descendents have returned with a new song, titled “Victim of Me,” off their first upcoming album in 12 years, Hypercaffium Spazzinate. The album will be released July 29th by Epitaph Records. (Pre-orders are on sale now.)
Descendents are a punk rock band that was formed in 1977, in Manhattan Beach, California. The band is composed of Milo Aukerman (vocals), Bill Stevenson (drums), Karl Alvarez (bass guitar), and Stephen Egerton (guitar). Popular songs by the Descendents include “Everything Sux,” “I Don’t Want To Grow Up,” “Suburban Home,” “Sour Grapes,” and “My Dad Sucks.”
“I think one of the things that’s kept us inspired over the years is having the music as an outlet for our frustrations,” says singer Milo Aukerman. “Having the freedom to completely blow my voice out every time I recorded was a very positive experience for me.”
Hypercaffium Spazzinate marks the band’s return to Epitaph and their first release on the independent label since the 1996 record Everything Sucks. They put out one full-length since then, 2004’s Cool to Be You, which arrived after a seven-year wait via Fat Wreck Chords.
“I can’t wait for the new album to come out. I think that their sound really hasn’t changed all that much and I like it. There’s a lot of old bands that try to change their sound it winds up not sounding good,” senior Lara Cwass said.
