Baruch College hosted an event that was a mix of an award show and a journalism meet. While most of the time was spent letting students learn about different journalistic and media sources, they also experienced a press conference with other students about daily journalistic responsibilities.
“It was a good time, but I was not proud,” senior Brendon Muniz said.
While the journalism conference meeting was held for six hours, it eventually lead up to the award show. Schools were nominated for awards that were broken down into different categories with the three most important ones being announced last. The big three awards were Best Newspaper, Best Online Newspaper and Best New Newspaper.
Our school had several nominations ranging from the Broadcast and the Newspaper. While “The Highlight” had won a runner up award, the school Newspaper had won Best Overall Online Newspaper.
“Ms. Sackstein does an incredible job with her newspaper, pushing the boundaries especially since we merged into digital in a like things in our school,” IEP teacher Mr. Petrotta said.
