Arts Connection is an organization that stages exhibitions of student’s work in different places. Students in grades six to twelve submit artwork and if the organization likes it, it will be displayed  somewhere (most likely in Manhattan).

Students are invited to a reception and after the exhibition the artwork is returned to the student in it’s nice frame. The students whose work gets chosen receive a $100 gift certificate to Blick Art Supplies store.

“Each theme is chosen by a company who chooses to sponsor it. It is a joint effort between arts connection and the companies. Some themes were used before like Connections to Asia. We have not received any submissions yet but the first deadline is March 1,”  Student Art Program Assistant Stephanie Routhier said.

There are three exhibition themes and students can submit to any and all if they choose to. Two of the exhibition themes that are due Tuesday, March 1 at 5 PM are Connections to Asia and Viewpoints, Stories and Connections.

Rhythm and Light is the final theme and the deadline for that submission is Friday, April 15 at 5 PM. The Rhythm and Light will be the largest exhibition this season (175 artworks).

“My daughter did it in high school and they hung the picture in an investment bank and when the exhibition was done her picture got shipped back home. This helps bring awareness to art,” Parent Coordinator Helen Reed said.
