Last week, former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland was found dead on his tour bus. Weiland, 48, was not breathing, and may have suffered cardiac arrest, according to a report from the New York Daily News said.

So far, the definite cause of death has not been found, but his tour bus contained a wide array of drugs such as Xanax and cocaine. A toxicology report is not expected for several more weeks.

“Our hope for Scott has died, but there is still hope for others. Let’s choose to make this first time we don’t glorify this tragedy with talk of rock and roll and the demons that, by the way, don’t have to come with it,” Weiland’s ex-wife Mary said, in an open letter to Rolling Stone regarding his death.

“It’s really unfortunate that he died, all his music was very great, but his death didn’t come as a big surprise to me,” junior Elizabeth Browne said.

Weiland had a history of drug abuse; he was arrested in 1995 for attempting to buy crack cocaine, and again in 1999 for heroin possession. He had also entered  rehab after a DUI arrest in 2007.

A formal cause of death should surface soon.
