Seniors were given lunch forms for open lunch this week. The form includes the rules and the consequences if students fail to follow the right directions.

“I think it is a great opportunity for seniors to be independent and act like adults,” assistant principal Mr. Jurman said.

It is expected that students sign in and out with school safety, and are not late coming back to school. Students also must be respectful to the community, if there are any complaints, open lunch rights will be revoked. The qualification criteria includes, at least 90% attendance, recommendations from their advisors, and students must be on track for graduation. If students are suspended their open lunch rights will also be revoked and that goes for having multiple detentions too.

“I’m thrilled that we can finally go out and eat what I want because I am not a fan of school lunch,’’ senior Marcella Orlando said.

After students give in their completed forms they will be given a card. The card will be used to indicate when they leave and come back to school. Seniors are not allowed to bring back any food or beverages for safety reasons. If students come back to school late for period 5 their open lunch privilege will be repealed.
