Ms. Koza is a new teacher here at WJPS. Previously working in an elementary and middle school in Williamsburg for nine years, she thought it was time for a new challenge.
This year will be Ms. Koza’s 10th year of teaching. She teaches Geometry and study skills to tenth and eleventh graders. In her previous school, she taught seventh grade math and eighth grade Algebra 1.
All of Ms. Koza’s childhood had been surrounded by math since her father was a math teacher.
Ms. Koza initially did not see herself teaching and did everything in her power to not become a teacher. She became a recruiter and hated it. She decided to get her master’s degree in teaching and started her journey.
One of the biggest reasons why Ms. Koza decided to switch schools was because of the long commute to her old school. She also decided it was time for a change and a new challenge since she thought she “had seen all of the challenges.”
She sees herself continuing her journey teaching here at WJPS in the long run. She is open about the school community, and how the staff is very supportive and welcoming to her as a new addition to the WJPS family.
