Transitioning to 5G Data

Transitioning+to+5G+Data

By: Andrew Selvaratnam, Technology Reporter

Back in 2019, many cellular companies introduced a new 5g data plan, in order to be faster than all other data plans like 4g and 3g. Many phones didn’t have the compatibility to support it, and there was also a lack of cellular towers that supported 5g.

However, with technological advances in 2022, 5g has become much more popular. Many users now have a phone that is compatible with 5g.

According to Cnet,a technology review website, “5G phones are so expensive because the devices and the wireless networks they use cost billions to build.

Furthermore, with the new release of faster data companies are slowly shutting down the 3g data towers and moving closer to the future to faster speeds according to fcc.gov.

WJPS junior William He said, “With them coming out with more 5g data available it’s nice since we could have faster speed, but if they charge me extra it’s not good.”

WJPS junior, Alejandro Ortiz Jr said, “With 5g I think it’s a good thing to release, but I think it’s not really needed and shouldn’t invest much money into it.”
