Premium Prices for Old Games

Premium+Prices+for+Old+Games

After a game has been released for a couple of years, the price of that game usually starts to drop. This is a trend that should continue for the foreseeable future as it makes it more affordable for consumers.

When God of War IV first released in 2018, it cost 60 dollars, but now it has dropped to 20 dollars.

Previously, games could also be played for free via monthly passes such as the Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus for a fee.

Though not all companies follow this trend, some keep their premium prices for years after a release of a game.

Nintendo is one of these companies who for most of their titles like the Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, which was originally released in 2017, cost 60 dollars. Nearly six years later on the Nintendo Eshop, it still costs 60 dollars.

Considering the fact that you would have to buy a Nintendo console to even play these exclusive titles, it makes buying these games all the more expensive.

WJPS senior, Luca Vivar Amaya, said, “I would consider them high because the games are not very intriguing to me.”

WJPS senior, Giovani Duran said, “I think Nintendo games prices are high because most people nowadays use Xbox or PlayStations and the sales for Nintendo would be affected by that.”
