Extreme measures have been the solution to many wars. Whether in World War II or even older wars such as the Napoleonic War, is it okay to resort to extreme violence? 

Currently, Russia has resorted to violence in the present day Russo-Ukrainian war. Though this war only began a few weeks ago, it has had an immense international impact. 

However, such disagreements could have been discussed and solved before even considering harming innocent citizens. 

WJPS senior Naomi Long said, “It’s sad how the governments of the involved countries have to risk citizen lives in order to solve their issues. I wish it were possible for the governments of those countries to try to settle matters privately before taking a violent initiative.”

WJPS teacher Ms. Patritti said, “Violence shouldn’t be applied at all. Most of the matters that these countries disagree on can be resolved with a simple discussion or even the introduction of a treaty.”
