New Mayor Coming Soon

New+Mayor+Coming+Soon

Mayor Bill De Blasio is finishing his eight years of office and soon, a new mayor of New York will take over.

People who are eligible and registered 18 years or older to vote will enter their votes on the ballots.

Elections will take place on November 2nd. Polls will be open from six am to nine pm.

Mayor De Blasio will not be running for re-election due to term limits.

There will be two candidates that will be running for the mayoral position in the two major parties.

The candidate who represents the Republican side is Curtis Sliwa, the founder and chief executive officer of the Guardian Angels.

The candidate who represents the Democratic side is Eric Adams, former police officer.

Whoever wins the mayoral position will serve four years as mayor of New York City.

Mr. Mengani, WJPS teacher said, “I’m sad that there isn’t a more serious Republican challenger for the mayorship. Both parties suffer when there isn’t a strong candidate on both sides.”

Ms. Papazoglou, a WJPS teacher said, “I just think we have to create the climate so that people will come out on election day and vote.”
