COVID’s Effect on WJPS

COVID%E2%80%99s+Effect+on+WJPS

With COVID-19 still making an impact on the world for many,, rules on masks are set in schools. These requirements reveal new roadblocks on education for some students and staff.

Issues such as difficulty breathing and lack of focus are highlighted.

Nick Carollo, a 10th grader at WJPS stated, “These masks distract me and keep me off task. Sometimes it makes me overheat which messes up my train of thought and makes it harder to process information.”

While some students struggle in class, some teachers say they tend to struggle just as much, or even more.

WJPS history teacher, Mr. Tesler said that, “Masks make it harder to hear students. Harder to recognize faces. I get winded sometimes due to shortness of breaths.”

While some students and teachers tend to struggle with the rules, they have become mandatory, and may stay in effect until the pandemic is no longer a threat.
