Every day, we see kids flexing their new and expensive airpods in their ears and showing off the new IPhone 11 Pro trying to look cool in front of their friends. However, other teenagers tend to get left out because they don’t have the luxury to buy some of these things leading to insecurity and self-doubt.

“I think in the world we live in today, in the society we live in today, most people will try to get more expensive things to try to make themselves look cooler, but to me, I don’t think that determines anything and it’s based on your own personality and who you are,” said WJPS Junior Maria Arnioutis.

“I feel like it kind of depends on the people you surround yourself. If you’re not wearing a name brand or things that are in trend, people might look at you different,” said WJPS Junior Tanyiah Macphail.

How much you spend or the amount of expensive things you have doesn’t matter when it comes to popularity with real friends. It just feeds your ego, making you think you’re better than everyone else, when in reality you’re not. If you’re rich in love and compassion for those around you, then you’re popular in your own way.
