Should People Eat Meat?

People have been hunting and eating meat for ages and it has been a staple food in many peoples’ diets. It tastes good and increases your metabolism.

Meat encourages the retention of muscle mass and leads to an increase in your iron absorption.

People should eat red meat as well as white meat because a three-and-a-half ounce of chicken breast contains 31 grams of protein. 

11th grader, Jesenia Valderrama, gives her opinion, “I think people should eat meat because it has a lot of healthy things in it that can help things like our hair or our bones grow.” 

WJPS junior, Lucas Fernandez said, “It is fine. It is a delicious form of food. People should not be stopped from eating it.”

Meat contains several vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B12 which helps make DNA and keeps the body’s nerve and blood cells healthy. It also contains Niacin which may lower cholesterol, ease arthritis, and boost brain function. 

Selenium helps with reproduction, thyroid gland function, DNA production, and protecting the body from infection. 

White meat is not shown to cause cancer when cooked at a high temperature. However, red meat is shown to have this effect.

Nevertheless, the relationship between red meat and cancer is not due to causation. It is only observational. 

Therefore, people should eat meat which include, but are not limited to beef, chicken, pork, and ham.
