Dox Attacks: What You Need to Know

Dox Attacks: What You Need to Know

Many people on the Internet try to stay as anonymous as possible by keeping their names, appearance, and their whole identity private. Personal information that could be leaked and viewed by anyone without permission is called doxing.

A DOX attack is when personal information, such as your home address, phone number, and your identity is given to others, or posted publicly without the victim’s permission. This information can be found either with lots of research social media or specific information websites such as Facebook or WhitePages.

There are some ways to prevent a DOX attack, mainly by making sure nothing too personal is revealed on social media.

If someone gets your full name, they could track your personal email and social media accounts like Facebook and get your location, family information, and other information that a stranger online should not have.

Be safe on the Internet and keep all personal information with people you trust. If there’s specific information online that you do not want strangers to see, either make your accounts private or delete it as soon as possible because in the wrong hands, your personal information could be used against you.
