The 2018 Giants Season Turned Into a Giant Mess

The+2018+Giants+Season+Turned+Into+a+Giant+Mess

The 2018 NFL season for the New York Giants had high expectations, but then came tumbling down when they racked up losses against Jacksonville, Dallas, Carolina, New Orleans and the defending Super Bowl Champion, Philadelphia Eagles; while defeating teams on the road, such as the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers.

When the Giants began the previous season, they started 0-5 and finished 3-13 with a coaching change halfway, and Eli Manning’s starting streak was over.  This resulted in the Giants firing Ben Mcadoo and hiring Pat Shurmur as their next head coach.

The Giants have not won a playoff game since winning Super Bowl XLVI in 2012, and haven’t had much success since Tom Coughlin resigned.

However, the future is bright for Big Blue. They hired Dave Gettleman as a new general manager, who previously held the same job with the Carolina Panthers for three seasons, one of which lead to a Super Bowl appearance.

The Giants drafted Saquon Barkley with the number two pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, the most important thing the Giants need to do is to find the successor for Eli Manning. If they continue their losing ways, the best choice for them is to focus on the draft and get the number one pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Before some offseason moves, the Giants also traded Jason Pierre Paul for a third round pick and acquired Alec Ogletree for a fourth and a seventh round that were used in the 2018 NFL draft. The Giants made moves by waving offensive tackle Ereck Flowers and traded cornerback Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints.

New York also traded away Damon “Snacks” Harrison to the Detroit Lions for a fourth round pick.

The Giants future quarterback arget was Justin Herbert from Oregon, but he decided to return to school for his senior season. The other quarterback the Giants can go for is Dwayne Haskins from Ohio State, but we don’t know if he will declare for the draft or head back to school.
