Red Nose Day is a campaign run by Comic Relief Inc. to help raise money for children in need, such as children in hunger programs. Over the last 25 years, the organization has raised over 1 billion dollars.
Money raised by last years Red Nose Day campaign helped benefit people in all 50 states and 15 countries.
On May 26th, which is Red Nose Day, there will be a two hour NBC TV special at 9 P.M.
This special will feature comedy acts, artists’ performing, and short films. Some of the celebrities featured are Ellen DeGeneres, Jack Black, Liam Neeson, Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Kristen Bell, Emma Watson, Chloë Grace Moretz and many others.
“I would definitely buy a red nose,” sophomore Giuliana Pezzino said.
People are encouraged to buy a red nose. They can be purchased from either Walgreens or Duane Reade, but Walgreens is the exclusive retailer.
“My parents bought a red nose to support the cause,” senior Jonah Sampedro said.
People can donate money online using PayPal, and credit or debit card. Check and money order donations payable to “Red Nose Day Fund” can be sent in the mail. Cash donations can be dropped off at a local Walgreens or Duane Reade store.
“I would definitely by a red nose because these kids don’t have the opportunity we have today,” senior Dean Zouvelos said.
People are encouraged to post their red nose photos on social media with the hashtag #RedNose and/or #RedNoseDay.
