Usually when a musical artist takes a break from touring, he or she tends to take time to write more music, travel around without having to worry about shows, and of course, spend time with their families. But for One Direction singer, Harry Styles, the group’s hiatus seemed to be a good time for him to begin his acting career.
As some people may know, Styles had a peak at what the acting world was like back in 2012 and 2013, when One Direction made appearances on iCarly and Saturday Night Live. However, many thought that these performances weren’t exactly Oscar worthy, and were surprised when they heard the news of Styles’ career move.
“His acting back in 2012 was okay, I guess. But I wasn’t expecting him to try to take up acting as something serious. I guess we’ll just see how it goes,” Hillcrest High School junior Jacqueline Vega said.
In late 2015, rumors started spreading that Styles was going to appear in Christopher Nolan’s World War II based action-thriller, Dunkirk, which is set to hit theaters in the summer of 2017. Plus, Styles is said to be appearing in a couple episodes in season two of the television series Scream Queens.
“Knowing Harry, he’s pretty good at everything. But acting, I really haven’t seen much except iCarly. So if he just stands there and looks pretty, that’s enough for me,” junior Erika Donis said.
Although none of these rumors are 100% confirmed, many One Direction fans are excited to see Styles behind a camera. Some are excited to see him, even if his acting won’t turn out to be so amazing.
