ISIS has many names which they are regarded by. They were founded by a group of extremists in 1999 who decided to join up in arms in a common cause that they held. The founder, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, created the group the “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” as a result of his radical views on how people should be treated.
The name was created, among many other reasons, to assert their dominance and achieve total control in Syria. The group itself seems to not care about the repercussions that they face because of their actions.
“Honestly at this point, I think the US should step in and lend a hand for those people who are in desperate need of help. It’s really messed up on how they treat people and all of the disturbing stuff they have done in the past and most likely the future. Actually everyone in the world should take action since this isn’t a problem for one country it’s a worldwide problem that will eventually affect everyone,” senior Marcela Abanto said.
While nobody knows the real figure of the amount of deaths ISIS has caused, it’s very probable that the numbers will continue to rise until their organization comes to an end. ISIS itself acts like a cult that uses terrorism and fear to control people all around the world, causing people to live in fear of what they can do.
The only way to clearly understand how the group thinks is to understand their logic and the way they have interpreted Islam. ISIS claims to be driven by religious beliefs and that they are a peaceful religion.
“Personally, I don’t get how these people claim to be fighting for God and that it’s his [God’s] will for them to do the things they’re doing now like killing innocent people. It just doesn’t make sense to me,” senior Daniel Kricheli said.
A common misbelief of ISIS is that people assume that all Muslims support their actions and the group itself. However, this is false.
In 2003, ISIS was reborn with more people as the United States of America had just invaded Iraq, resulting in thousands of unemployed and angered people. A group called, Al Qaeda, decided to take the anger from all the people who had nothing left by joining the ranks and fighting back for their lives and country.
ISIS controls regions using the sharia law. If a person does not comply with the rules, they will either get exiled or executed. The war on ISIS has been a long fought one, ranging through the decades, through multiple wars, resulting in everything that could have led up to the occupation and where ISIS stands today.
