Youth Communication is having a summer workshop for students who love to write. The theme of this year’s workshop is “Be a Voice for Change”.
In the workshop participants receive mentoring from a professional editor, go on trips and write personal stories about their lives. Stories will be published in YCteen and Represent magazines. To apply you have to be between the ages of 15-20.
“It allows students to write about things that are real to them and it’s free. They get to meet people from all different parts of the city to do what they’re passionate about together,” english teacher Ms.Marks said.
Workshop goals is to improve teenagers writing. Participants will receive a MetroCard and $7 for lunch money each day. Students do not need a background in Journalism. The deadline to sign up is May 20th and by signing up you are committing to go from July 5th- August 11th.
