Another February.
Black Power, Black Pride.
March 1st and it’s over.
Another February.
You’ll point your finger to the oppressors .
Fist high in the air,
And your afro will be teased to its highest peak.
March 2nd and it’s here,
Another unarmed black man just sitting there.
Just another February.
Watch how the community joins
for only a month at a time.
Sing the slave hymn,
Ignore the unsung pioneers.
Social Justice warrior take the street.
Salute the radicals of your time.
Yet when,
March 3rd rolls around and you idly sit down,
Waiting for February to come around.
Welfare lines increasing,
Our black men decreasing.
These issues will just have to wait for,
another February for you to give a reason.
Emphasize your African roots.
Proud to be Black.
Proud to see how much our community lacks.
The meaning is gone.
Throw your fist up to the blind.
Screaming out black lives matter to the deaf.
Racially biased and flawed Judicial system.
But who cares,
The brink of a second Civil Rights Movement .
But who cares,
NO fight and yet there’s still more to come.
But who cares,
It’s just another February.
You struggle against the gurney straps.
But it’s hard for you to feel it.
Unspoken
Invoiced
Misunderstood
Unbothered
Simply another February to you.
Failing ourselves silent to our fight.
Blind path taken on this journey.
Our motivation dead and our children too.
This February do something different,
Be someone new
Caught in a regression, we relinquish the power of our race.
Our savior’s death and our freedom too.
It’s just another February to you.
