When speaking about a player who won against all odds, sports fans can mention Stephen Curry. Curry who recently just came off winning an NBA title, announced that he and Under Armour have further extended their partnership.
People expected him do great things coming out of high school much like his father, Dell Curry, but not everyone’s dreams always play out the way they want them to.
From being doubted to not getting where he wants to be, this is how Curry became who he is today. Coming off a stellar MVP and championship season, where he averaged 23.8 points and 7.7 assists per game, Curry proved he was the real deal with his attitude, demeanor and leadership. Under Armour saw something in him that most brands did not.
“His work ethic, uncompromising self-belief, and commitment to the community are characteristics that make Stephen the perfect partner to ignite the growth of Under Armour in the sport of basketball and around the world,” stated an article written in Under Armour And Stephen Curry Extend Landmark Partnership Through 2024
“I feel that Steph Curry really evolved not just as a point guard but as a player, and learned how to be the leader of his team. At this point, I feel he exceeded my own expectations of himself, ” junior Ronald Bametela said.
Curry and Under Armour have agreed to extend their partnership through 2024 and includes an equity stake.
As well as agreeing to an extension, Curry will continue to play a central role in brand marketing campaigns, including training and being a part of the Under Armour Connected Fitness platforms. The brands’ Connected Fitness apps will enhance Curry with his fitness regimen, game-style approach and will eventually be available for all consumers. The extension only reflects Under Armours quick uprising momentum in basketball including sponsoring rising players such as Greivis Vasquez, Brandon Jennings and Kemba Walker.
