A huge uproar occurred at Camp Nou this Saturday as star player Lionel Messi fell to the ground clutching his lower calf forcing him limps off the pitch and miss the remaining of the fixture against Las Palmas.
Ar only the 8th minute of the match, Messi collided with Las Palmas defender Pedro Bigas right by the penalty box causing him to fall onto the pitch in pain. Even with the loss of Messi, FC Barcelona was still able to grab a win as they were able to hold off Las Palmas 2-1.
FC Barcelona released soon after that four time FIFA ballon d’or winner will be out for 7 to 8 weeks.
“Tests carried out on (Leo Messi) and have confirmed that the player has suffered a tear in the internal collateral ligament of his left knee, the timeout will be approximately between seven and eight weeks,” stated on FC Barcelona official website (translated to English)
Messi will be missing important games like the famous El Clasico on November 22 as they face their bitter rivals Real Madrid. Players like Luis Suarez and Neymar de Santos will have to try to shine as the replacement for Barcelona’s Key player. Messi has started every single fixture in the 2015 season and has already three goals under his name with 13 assists. With Messi gone, all everyone is asking is who will substitute the star Argentina player.
“FC Barcelona is still the best team in the world despite the loss of Messi, he’s only going to come back stronger than ever. He is for a fact the best player in the world, where he plays for the best club in the world. Even though the best player is out, Fc Barcelona is still the best team in the with or without Messi” said 12th grader Thomas Mastora.
