September 25th marked the 10 year anniversary of the Broadway play Hamilton. In honor of that, the Walt Disney Company has allowed theaters to play the recorded version for patrons.
The version was released into theaters on September 5th in the U.S, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
While it hasn’t been released yet elsewhere, it was released on September 26’th in the U.K and Ireland, and will be released November 13’th for Australia and New Zealand.
WJPS 12th grader Natalie Derosa said, “I think it is very cool and it gives a new experience to fans. You can also indoctrinate your friends into liking Hamilton.”
Additionally, the original cast members have taken to social media encouraging people to sing along.
WJPS 12th grader Giselle Nuñez said, “I personally think that the actors allowing Hamilton to be a sing-a-long is a nice thing. It’s a way for the audience to interact with each other and form a community over a shared passion.”
As it stands, Disney has already extended the movie’s time in theaters due to popular demand.
