Kokoro Cat Café is the name of a new spot that opened last month in Flushing in Tangram Mall. It is located on 37th Avenue and is the first of its kind in Queens.
The cat café is inspired by Japan and houses rescue cats, while serving drinks. Customers can also buy cat food to feed the cats.
According to Kokoro Cat Café, the meaning of “Kokoro” means “heart” in Japanese as they provide a loving and serene environment for rescue cats while waiting for the cats to be adopted and brought to their forever home.
Also, they are partnered with Anjellicle Cats Rescue, a no-kill rescue organization, to provide the cats to the café. You are free to adopt a cat from Kokoro through them.
The cats are brought there so they can interact with people to give them a second chance for adoption.
