The Great Gatsby Musical first came to Broadway in April of 2025.

The story is about the life of a self-made millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and his attempts to get back with his long-lost love, Daisy Buchanan.

The current cast features Ryan McCartan, Sara Hyland, Noah J. Ricketts, and Samantha Pauly.

The musical won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design and was nominated for multiple Outer Critics Circle Awards.

The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925.

The musical is scheduled to leave Broadway in April and go to London’s West End Theater, though the musical will return to the US in January of 2026 for an American tour.

WJPS 11th grader Danella Torres stated, “I thought the musical was amazing, and they did a great job adapting certain aspects of the book into the play. I highly recommend it to others if they’re looking for a fun musical that also deals with important topics.”

WJPS teacher Ms. Koza talked about her experience bringing middle schoolers to the musical, “It was a lot of the kids’ first time going to Broadway, the show itself was so beautiful and the costumes and effects were so amazing. It was so cool to see the students so into the story and just seeing their reaction.”
