Robotics is the research of building and designing a robot and is used for performing jobs.
In certain industries, robots and machines are replacing people. Some industries include car factories, banking, and fast food restaurants.
Robots do not get sick and don’t need to take time off work.
According to Wells Fargo Bank, it is estimated that robots will eliminate 200,000 banking jobs in the next 10 years. In addition, most fast food restaurants have kiosks where you can place your order, and no live person is required to place an order.
According to upenn.edu, negative impacts about robotics are that low-skilled workers are losing their jobs and robots are taking over the workforce.
WJPS teacher Ms. Bonnani said, “I think robotics can be great for completing jobs that are difficult for humans to perfect, such as soldering car parts and small electronic devices.”
WJPS teacher Ms. Mills said, “I think robotics can pave the way for humans to have more freedom to engage in meaningful tasks and innovative careers by taking over everyday tasks such as cooking and cleaning or in factories by taking inventory, packing, and shipping materials.”
