A new album will be released January 17th by Mac Miller’s family and estate titled “Balloonerism.”
On September 7th, 2018, Malcolm James McCormick, who was professionally known as Mac Miller, died from an accidental drug overdose in his home.
Since his passing, Miller’s estate has overseen the new releases of his work. He is known for his “party rap” style of music and hip-hop.
The album’s production can be dated all the way back to 2014, where it was unreleased until recent announcements by Miller’s estate.
The album’s cover has a portrait of Miller painted by Alim Smith. In September of 2018, Smith shared the artwork on his Instagram page.
The album features singer and songwriter SZA, as well as Delusional Thomas, which was known as one of Miller’s alternate egos.
WJPS 12th grader Lorie White said, “I honestly think that it’s cool how his family is able to preserve his legacy like this. He was definitely talented.”
WJPS ninth grader Aaleyah Hadzovic stated, “I like his music, and I’m glad to see that his family is still able to put out music that we haven’t heard before.”
