A 13-year-old streamer who’s been going by the name “$kid” has made a profit of $30,000 on his live stream.
The streamer created a Solana meme coin, which is a form of cryptocurrency named “GenZ Quant” on “Pump.fun,” an online website which allows users to create and distribute their own online money.
He then promoted it to a large degree and as soon as it got attention he sold all of it immediately in a “pump and dump fashion”, a type of crypto scheme.
WJPS teacher, Mr. Maroney said, “Wow, I know it’s selling for $80,000 a share, it’s crazy that he can do this at 13, more power to him. However the parents should be prosecuted too and he should not be on a computer for a long time.”
WJPS seventh grader, Ethan Santiago said, “I think it’s very impressive that a teen can make money on Crypto. I think it’s generally bad however.”
