Airpods have become popular ever since they came out to the point where students have them in their ears during the entire school day. Some administrators find this very distracting for them and so do some teachers, but some students strongly disagree.
Airpods may not cause distractions, instead they may help boost the student’s concentration and enthusiasm, especially if they are used to working and listening to music.
WJPS 12th grader Athena Porter said, “Yes, airpods should be allowed in class. It helps some kids concentrate better because it stops you from talking and being distracted from other classmates.”
Other administrators strongly disagree with this, which is why they have also started taking airpods and giving them back at the end of the day.
WJPS principal Mr. Yarmy said, “I believe that students need their full attention to be successful in class. Any distraction can leave a student unable to meet the expectations of which they are capable.”
Students should be able to use airpods when the lesson is over and during lunch and passing to classes.
