The 2023-24 NBA season is starting as the first game for the New York Knicks is Wednesday, October 25th hosting the Boston Celtics.
While the Knicks did not make any top headline moves over the summer, they’re still in a great position when it comes to key pieces and draft capital saved up for potential trades for future seasons.
The Knicks most intriguing trade was for guard Donte DiVincenzo from the Golden State Warriors, entering his fifth year in the league. The Knicks hope to capitalize on his three point shooting abilities which the Knicks have lacked in recent years. The Knicks averaged 35 percent from the three point line as a team last year.
This newfound success is thanks to guard Jalen Brunson, who the Knicks were able to pick up in last year’s offseason. Last season he averaged career high numbers at 24 points per game and led the team in his shooting efficiency.
Knicks fans at WJPS have varying expectations for the coming season.
WJPS senior Oliver Gonzalez said, “At least 47 wins like last year. Yes, let’s go to the conference finals.”
WJPS senior Andrew Selvaratnum said, “I think the Knicks will perform decently like they do every other season.”
