During periods students at WJPS have about one to two minutes in between for them to be able to get to class on time.
The issue with the limited amount of time is that some students have to walk three flights of stairs to get to their next class within the time frame.
Another issue of the short time interval is that hallway sweeps have been implemented for some time to hand out detention to those who have been late to class after the late bell rings.
Some students believe the amount of time in between bells isn’t a reasonable amount.
WJPS junior, Bianca Larocca stated, “I don’t like the amount of time there is in between bells, I wish they’d give us more time. A lot of people take a long time to get their stuff by the lockers, and also there are a lot of people in the hallways so it’s hard to get to class on time.”
WJPS junior, Alexander Arroyo said, “The time is kind of short due to when there is class in the basement and having to go up to third floor is a challenge due to the school being three in one you have kids from different schools walking up and down the stairs, so I think it should be a little longer so students can get their books and settle into class.”
Instead the amount of time between the class periods should be two minutes longer to ensure that students avoid being late to class.
