Uniform policies are in place for a reason, right? At WJPS, it seems clear that the uniform policy is definitely more strict when it comes to the dress code for girls than it is for boys.
Some girls in the school feel that they are disciplined for improper dress code and think it is not fair judgment. The school requires all students to wear a uniform top which includes; a T-shirt, a polo shirt, or hoodies, but they must have the school logo visible.
Proper uniform shirts must have the school logo on them. If improper shirts are worn, both the girls and boys should be dress coded. Teachers along with administrators should also be fair in their judgment.
WJPS junior, Gabriella Angel commented, “Normally girls wear stuff like spaghetti strap tank tops and that’s why teachers and staff dress code them, because it’s showing shoulders. Unless they have a sweater on, they won’t get dress coded.”
WJPS junior, Daniel Braddish, stated, “With guys, we have more freedom in our clothing and it’s a bit more difficult with girls.”
